Building a sustainable platform.

EcoVadis is one of the world’s largest and most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings, creating a global network of more than 75,000 rated companies over the past 14 years.

Throughout the EcoVadis assessment, companies are evaluated regarding their performance on Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement and Brand Addition has reported to them for the last 10 years, obtaining the Platinum status in 2020. This means we are within the top 1% in the merchandise industry and that we have reached a high level of maturity in terms of sustainable procurement.

 

However, at Brand Addition we are fully committed to further improving our sustainability performance, so we are introducing new measures to make our supply chain even more transparent and aligned with our corporate sustainability targets among many other actions to reduce our impact.

In January 2021, BA launched our BA One Strategy for the next 4 years: “Sustainability & Growth”, putting sustainability at the heart of every decision we make towards 2025, and committing to ambitious science-based targets aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Targets.

Reduce our Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.

Renewable energy on all our sites by 2023.

50% reduction in waste sent to landfill by 2030.

We will continue to work to reduce the amount of single use plastic used within our supply chain.

In our directly operated logistics centres, our target is to ensure that all of the packaging materials used are recyclable or biodegradable by the end of 2023.

Sustainable packaging.

Across all of our Brand Addition logistics centres and warehouses, we have made some significant changes to the way in which we package our products for onward distribution. All of the outer packaging cartons that we now use are 100% recyclable and FSC certified, 70% of our cartons are also recycled and we only use recyclable paper bags, as well as paper void fill, packaging stickers and tape.

Over the last 4 years we have reduced the amount of plastic packaging at our Manchester site by 80% and we are committed to further reducing it in the coming years by replacing it with less impacting alternatives.

Sustainable products.

We incorporate eco-design to our products by looking at their end of life from the design process, through which we are implementing a circular economy approach.

Volunteering & social initiatives.

We are committed to give back to society by participating and engaging our staff in social and community related initiatives, as we have done in the last years with initiatives such as the Jerry Bottle Project through which we have financed a water project in India.

We have also launched a supported volunteering scheme for our employees to promote and support our staff participation in volunteering initiatives. Unfortunately, we have not participated in any corporate volunteering activity over the past year due to Covid related reasons, but we hope to resume them soon as circumstances permit.

Supply chain.

We prioritise suppliers that have sustainability at the core of their business and can provide us with raw materials origin certificates and social & environmental audits throughout their supply chain

Sustainability champions.

At Brand Addition we want to ensure that our efforts to drive our sustainability strategy are globally aligned across all our sites, which is why we have set up a team of sustainability champions at each site to drive and monitor our sustainability initiatives.

These teams will help us balance our efforts across all our offices and act as a catalyst for change by identifying new needs and driving future initiatives.
